Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Kino ("we", "us") about your use of the Kino app and website. By creating an account or using Kino, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Kino.

1. Who can use Kino

You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live. You're responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in methods secure.

2. Your content

You own what you post on Kino: rankings, notes, comments, lists, photos and other content. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display and share your content to operate Kino (for example, showing your rankings to your followers or on your public profile, according to your settings). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people have already shared or that remain in backups for a limited time.

Only post content you have the right to post. Don't upload photos of other people without their permission.

3. Community rules: zero tolerance for objectionable content

Kino has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You may not post or send content that:

Report and block: you can report any account, comment, list or request with its ••• or flag button, report a photo by pressing and holding it, and block any account from its profile. A blocked account can no longer see your profile or activity, follow you, or interact with you. We review reports, and we remove objectionable content and suspend or ban the users who post it, generally within 24 hours of a report.

4. Acceptable use

Don't misuse Kino. For example, don't try to access other people's accounts or our systems without permission, scrape or bulk-collect data, interfere with the service, or use Kino to break the law.

5. Movie and TV data

Titles, images and descriptions come from The Movie Database (TMDB); Kino uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Streaming availability is provided by JustWatch. This information may be incomplete or out of date, and it belongs to its respective owners.

6. The service

Kino is free. We may change, add or remove features, and we may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or to protect Kino or its users. You can stop using Kino and delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete account.

7. Disclaimers

Kino is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't guarantee that Kino will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data won't be lost. Recommendations, scores and taste matches are for fun and aren't advice.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Kino and its operators won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Kino. Our total liability for any claim is limited to $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

9. Apple

If you downloaded Kino from the App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Kino or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and isn't responsible for any claims relating to Kino. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. Your use of Kino must also comply with the App Store's Usage Rules.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, except where your local law gives you the right to bring claims where you live.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we'll let you know in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Kino after that means you accept the updated terms.
